Reduce risk by neutralizing spilled acids immediately

using a safe, effective solution that produces less fumes, minimal heat or spatter

Spill Green AN neutralizes acid spills on contact.

Compared to existing methods, significant cost savings can be realized and risks reduced in waste handling and disposal due to the non-hazardous nature of the resulting microencapsulated residue.

On-Site Neutralization Solution

Spill Green AN is a unique absorbent that offers a safer and faster method for neutralizing and cleaning up industrial, commercial, residential and laboratory acids. It reduces risk, liability and costs. Simply pour or spray and brush Spill Green AN into the spill to quickly eliminate the hazardous characteristics of the spilled acid. Spill Green AN forms a solid amorphous precipitate as neutralization continues, reducing the possibility for the spattering of acidic liquids.

Spill Green AN technology is flexible and can be used to clean up a large variety of acids such as:

• Hydrochloric Acid

• Muriatic Acid

• Battery Acid

• Nitric Acid

• Chlorosulfonic Acid

• Phosphoric Acid

• Acetic Acid

• Oxalic Acid

• Mercaptoacetic Acid

• Glycolic Acid

• Chromic Acid

• Selenic Acid

Spill Green AN is superior to traditional methods such as sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate which are

relatively slow, generate significant heat, sometimes spatter violently, and tend to aerosolize the acid gas due to the

formation of carbon dioxide gas. In some cases with conventional carbonates, the salts formed during the

neutralization, can be extremely toxic. In addition, absorbed acids using dry powder carbonates may not be completely neutralized and remain corrosive. It may be difficult to visually confirm neutralization. Carbonates are

not typically recommended for neutralizing concentrated acids. Spill Green AN offers significant advantages over products such as acid compatible booms, pads, and wipers in that many of these products do not actually neutralize the acid, but instead simply mop up the liquid acid. Booms, wipers, and pads generate a significant amount of solid waste and must be treated as hazardous materials.

Spill Green AN reduces the total amount of solid wastes and treats the hazard at the spill site instead of just mopping it up, packaging it up and passing it on as a risk for someone

else to deal with.

 How the Technology Works

The basic technology is a one-step process and is non-toxic and

non-hazardous. When applied to a spill, Spill Green AN’s amorphous silica system reacts with the spilled acid and begins precipitating into a solid residue within seconds after application.

Acids, such as hydrochloric or sulphuric, react with alkaline

Spill Green AN to form polymeric networks of inorganic silica as neutralization occurs. The end product is a nonhazardous matrix of amorphous silicon oxides (sand) and the neutralized acid

anion, e.g. chloride or sulphate. After mixing the appropriate amount of Spill Green AN with the spilled acid, the solid residue will turn to a light purple colour when the residue is approximately a neutral pH.

You have a visual confirmation of neutralization.

Regulatory Compliance

Some acids may be disposed of as nonhazardous waste once neutralized. Other acids may contain heavy metals or other

substances that are regulated. Compliance is the responsibility

of the waste generator. Spill Green Inc advises all customers to

verify and comply with all Federal, State, Provincial and local regulations regarding the treatment and disposal

of hazardous wastes.

Caution:

DO NOT USE SPILL GREEN AN OR ANY PRODUCT CONTAINING SILICA TO NEUTRALIZE HYDROFLUORIC

(HF) ACID OR ANY "FLUORIC" TYPE ACIDS. SILICA CAN REACT WITH HF TO FORM HIGHLY POISONOUS

(SILCON TETRAFLOURIDE (SiF4)) GAS.
